His Excellency President David Adeang has received the letter of credence of Ms Lisa White, accrediting her as High Commissioner of Australia to the Republic of Naoero.
Ms White was received on arrival at the government office by Superintendent David Canon, for the inspection of the Nauru Police Force Guard of Honour. She was then escorted to the Office of the President for the official presentation of her Letter of Credence.
In congratulating the High Commissioner, President Adeang underscored that Naoero and Australia share more than formal diplomatic ties, with a longstanding partnership, shared history and people-to-people connections under the theme: Ata Amin Bwini.
“Your leadership as High Commissioner will be important in sustaining this momentum and ensuring that our partnership continues to grow in a spirit of openness, trust and mutual consultation,” President Adeang said.
Lisa White previously served as a career diplomat and lawyer with over 20 years of experience working across government on international engagement, defence and security matters, representing Australia overseas, including in the Pacific, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. She has delivered political, security, development, and consular outcomes including the Australia-PNG Bilateral Security Agreement; Australia-PNG 2024 Ministerial Forum and the political and consular response to the Westgate Mall terror attack in Nairobi.
In her most recent position, the High Commissioner was responsible for deepening Australia’s engagement with ASEAN countries and implementing Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy, Invested.
