The first ever Miss Micronesia was crowned in Nauru this week with Miss Kiribati, Atiterentaai Rinimarawa, taking out the top honour.
In a three-day pageant, Miss Kiriabti earned the crown from fellow contestants Miss Marshall Islands, Claret Taonang Chongum, and Miss Nauru, Charlei Deiye.
Pageant director Livingstone Hiram reported the four-judge panel had nothing but praise for the quality of the contestants, who he said had set a high standard for future Miss Micronesia Pageants.
“The Miss Micronesia Pageant 2025 was a resounding success and a tribute to the exceptional young women who participated,” Mr Hiram said.
“I want to congratulate Miss Kiribati, Atiterentaai Rinimarawa, for taking out the crown and wish her every success in the future.
“I also want to acknowledge Miss Marshall Islands, Claret Taonang ChonGum, and Miss Nauru, Charlei Deiye for the passion and commitment they brought to this event.”
Coinciding with the pageant is the inaugural Micronesia Music Festival, also being held on Nauru, featuring some of the region’s finest musical performers.
According to Mr Hiram, the pageantry and music witnessed in Nauru showcased “the magic of Micronesian culture throughout the region and beyond.”
“Festival and pageant goers have been treated to some exceptional performances this week that will linger long in the memory,” he said.
“Contestants and participants have lived up to the week’s theme of ‘We are Micronesia’ and have helped put this event well and truly on the map.”
Miss Kiribati, Atiterentaai Rinimarawa, said she was “honoured and humbled” to be crowned the first-ever Miss Micronesia.
“I’m enormously proud to represent Kiribati in a prestigious event that’s all about celebrating Micronesian culture,” she said.
“I want to congratulate my pageant sisters from Nauru and the Marshall Islands for being part of a very special occasion that advertises the best Micronesia has to offer.”
